In May 2016, National PLTI facilitated a national training for PLTI Facilitators in Providence, Rhode Island. The host site was Providence PLTI, with many greetings on Day One including Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and Melissa Husband, Executive Director of Community Action Partnership (CAPP), the sponsoring agency for Providence PLTI.
More than 30 leaders from across the states gathered including strategists, policy leaders, parents and community networkers to convene “to assure deep civic engagement among parents for improved child outcomes. Over the three days, the national team offered the history, structure, strategy and collective impact of the Parent Leadership Training Institute. A panel of parents and facilitators shared parent leaders’ civic projects. They modeled the curriculum with master trainers, and most who attended practiced facilitating the curriculum.”
The next National PLTI Facilitator Training will be hosted in Denver, Colorado starting on July 21 running through July 23, 2017.
