Building Capacity

At NPLI, we are committed to strengthening the fabric of our communities by enhancing the systems that serve them. Our work with public agencies, policymakers, and other non-profit organizations is centered around creating effective partnerships with parents, ensuring that they are integral to the development, delivery, and evaluation of policies, programs, and practices.

The Power of Partnership

We believe in the power of partnership. When parents, organizations, and policymakers invest together in success, we see accelerated and sustained community change. Our Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) parent leaders are at the forefront of this movement, refining their civic and leadership skills to lead transformative change in their communities.

Fruitful Collaboration

NPLI’s System Capacity focus is about creating spaces and practices that foster productive collaboration between families and the systems that serve them. By partnering with our national team, parent leaders help influence these systems to form more effective partnerships with families.

Investing in Collective Change

Co-Creating Equity-Focused Spaces

Partnership with parents lays the groundwork for meaningful collective change. It's an investment of time and effort to co-create spaces where equity is the focus, and where every partner's needs, assets, and desires for change are truly seen and considered.

Shifting Practices for Changemaking

In collaboration with families and systems, NPLI works to shift practices toward effective partnership and changemaking, ensuring that every voice is heard and every perspective is valued.

Key Areas of Work

Transparent Evaluation Systems

We are committed to supporting and training parents and family members, transforming them into effective leaders and advocates. Our programs and initiatives are designed to equip them with the tools and confidence needed to make a difference in their children's lives and the broader community.

Process Improvement

Our team collaborates with families and community systems to improve processes and outcomes. By working together, we identify areas for enhancement and implement strategies that lead to more efficient and effective services.

Seats at the Table

NPLI connects parent leaders with decision-making tables in the community where their voices are most needed. We ensure that these leaders have the opportunity to contribute their unique perspectives and experiences to the conversations that shape policy and practice.

Networking Systems

We build bridges between funders, agencies, and families to enhance collaboration, learning, and change efforts. By fostering these connections, we create a network of support that strengthens the entire community.

Building system capacity for engaging parent leadership is essential for developing stronger, more equitable communities. At NPLI, we place families at the very center of decision-making, creating a ripple effect of positive change throughout our society.
