For A Healthy Democracy

We Are NPLI...

... or the National Parent Leadership Institute (if we're being formal). We are an anti-oppression, non-partisan organization that equips families and other decision-makers with innovative tools and opportunities to advocate for children everywhere. We improve child outcomes through the civic engagement of parent, youth and family leaders. We partner with diverse stakeholders to build a healthier and more equitable democracy for all.

Innovators & Pioneers

We are innovators and pioneers in the field of parent and family leadership. Our work has inspired countless other organizations. Ever hear about the "authentic engagement" of families? Yeah, we practically wrote the manual on it.

Creators of Belonging

We work for policies, programs, and practices that promote equity, justice, and inclusion for families of all backgrounds and identities. Our work helps break down the barriers of racism and discrimination in our communities.

Guardians of Democracy

Through an unbiased, nonpartisan approach to the civic engagement of families we help to build a healthier, more inclusive and more equitable democracy where all families have a voice and a stake in the future of our society.

We're all these things and more...

The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is a transformative national initiative and free 20‐week training designed to equip parents and caregivers with the tools to become effective advocates for children and agents of positive change in their communities.

Youth Leadership

Children's Leadership Training Institute

The Children’s Leadership Training Institute (CLTI) is a parallel course to PLTI. CLTI was developed as a parallel childcare component that includes learning content. It is an organic bridge for parents and children who share their learning experience, session by session.
