{"id":1796,"date":"2020-07-09T05:00:30","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T05:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/parentswholead.org\/?page_id=1796"},"modified":"2020-07-28T05:44:11","modified_gmt":"2020-07-28T05:44:11","slug":"donna-thompson-bennett","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/parentswholead.org\/es\/donna-thompson-bennett\/","title":{"rendered":"Donna Thompson-Bennett"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1798\" src=\"http:\/\/parentswholead.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Donna-Thompson-Bennett-1-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/parentswholead.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Donna-Thompson-Bennett-1-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/parentswholead.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Donna-Thompson-Bennett-1-576x1024.jpg 576w, https:\/\/parentswholead.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Donna-Thompson-Bennett-1.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Donna Thompson-Bennett, a parent leader and retired attorney, has\u00a030\u00a0years in advocacy experience, with 25 of those years centered on parent leadership and civic engagement.\u00a0\u00a0Donna considers herself a\u00a0global citizen who is passionate and committed to social justice and race equity.\u00a0A highlight of her leadership is\u00a0facilitating\u00a0across difference with parent, community and civic leaders to build partnerships that yield positive outcomes for\u00a0families and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to becoming Executive Director, Donna worked within NPLI over a decade as a National Consultant and Implementation Specialist and has partnered in implementing PLTI Sites around the country including locations in Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island and Virginia.\u00a0Then,\u00a0for 2.5 years,\u00a0Donna and Patti Keckeisen led NPLI as co-directors.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0She also\u00a0served as the Coordinator of\u00a0Bridgeport Public Schools Parent Center\u00a0and\u00a0her local PLTI, the Parent Leadership Training Institute.<\/p>\n<p>Donna\u2019s professional journey has always included elements of civics \u2013 as a former New York County Assistant District Attorney to engaging parents to be change agents and advocates for their children. Donna graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Spelman College and holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.<\/p>\n<p>Donna\u2019s current parent and community engagement include roles in: Bridgeport PLTI Civic Design Team, Bridgeport Prospers-Cradle to Career Initiative, Connecticut Department of Education Commissioner\u2019s Roundtable on Family and Community Engagement, and Six to Six Elementary\/Thurgood Marshall Middle School Magnet PTSA. She is also an active member of her beloved church family Mount Aery Baptist Church and\u00a0public service\u00a0sorority Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
