Carlos MaldonadoCarlos Maldonado is a resident of the small Eastern Shore State of Delaware, where he lives with his wife of 6 years and two children. He is the Communications Specialist for NPLI and has been part of the team since May of 2020. He has called Delaware home for nine years but partly grew up in a small town in Mississippi. Before that, Carlos lived in the Northwest of Mexico, where he was born. Carlos is proud of his Mexican heritage, speaks fluent Spanish, and strives to make language access more accessible through his work with NPLI.

Before Carlos joined the NPLI team, he worked for the State of Delaware. He coordinated the creation and execution of exhibits, communications campaigns, and social media and marketing for the history institutions and museums managed by the State of Delaware. During this time, he used his self-taught skill set to create and promote various exhibits and campaigns that elevated the voices and histories of marginalized groups in the state. His working career has led him to create wildly different promotional, marketing, and communications materials. These include but are not limited to flyers, brochures, websites, social media graphics, email newsletters, branding, apparel, press releases, videos, merchandise, and even large-scale business signs that are proudly displayed at several prominent Delaware businesses.

Carlos enjoys reading, watching fútbol, and spending time with his family in his downtime. His creative and historian side often draws him to museums and art galleries in the surrounding Delaware towns and cities and those of Philadelphia, Washington D.C, and Baltimore. You’ll also find him at the movie theater, popcorn in hand, any time a new Marvel or Sci-Fi movie is released. Carlos is relishing working with NPLI and using his skill set to help strengthen local communities through a civic leadership and racial equity approach.
